Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Shopfront Digital provides website design, development, hosting, and maintenance services for local businesses under a monthly subscription model. Our standard plan includes a custom website layout, hosting, SSL certificate, monthly content updates, and basic local SEO setup.

The standard Digital Shopfront includes a responsive website with up to 5 core sections or pages. This typically consists of: Home, About Us, Services/Pricing, Gallery/Portfolio, and a Contact/Location page. E-commerce functionality, custom databases, or blogs are not included in the standard plan and will require a custom quote.

2. Subscription & Payment

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe or Direct Debit (GoCardless).

Billing Commencement: Your first payment is taken upon sign-up to secure your project slot. Subsequent monthly billing begins automatically 30 days later. If the website launch is delayed because we are waiting on text, images, or feedback from you, the regular monthly billing will still continue.

Payments are non-refundable for the current billing period, except within the first 30 days (money-back guarantee). Note: The cost of purchasing a custom domain name is non-refundable and will be deducted from any refund.

We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 60 days' written notice.

3. Cancellation & Domain Ownership

You may cancel your no-contract subscription at any time with 30 days' written notice. Upon cancellation:

• Your website will remain live until the end of your current billing period, after which it will be taken offline.

Domain Names: If Shopfront Digital purchased a domain name on your behalf, we retain ownership of it. If you wish to transfer the domain to your own provider, you may do so for free only after 12 months of continuous subscription. If you cancel before 12 months, a £50 domain release fee applies.

The Codebase: The website codebase (HTML/CSS files) can be purchased and transferred to you for a one-time buyout fee of £1000. We will provide an export of your raw text and images free of charge upon request.

4. Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you provide (text, images, logos, trademarks). The website design, underlying code, and structural layout are the intellectual property of Shopfront Digital and are licensed to you for the duration of your active subscription.

5. Content Updates (Fair Use)

Your subscription includes up to 1 hour per month of fair-use content updates. This covers minor text changes, image swaps, menu pricing updates, and seasonal adjustments (completed within 3-5 business days). Structural redesigns, creating new pages, or new feature development are outside this scope and will be quoted separately. Unused update time does not roll over to the next month.

6. Uptime & Hosting

We target 99.9% uptime for all hosted websites. Scheduled maintenance windows will be communicated in advance. We are not liable for downtime caused by third-party services, acts of nature, or circumstances beyond our control.

7. Limitation of Liability

Shopfront Digital's total liability is limited to the fees paid in the 12 months preceding any claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages including lost revenue or data.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
